Comprehensive Care for GI Disorders

At Gut Love, we provide gut health assessments in NYC and comprehensive care for a wide range of gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. We take an integrative and personalized approach to care, focusing on root cause analysis and natural solutions. Our team of experts works closely with patients to develop customized treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals after a gut health assessment in NYC.

How we can help

The following are some of the GI disorders we can address:

Acid Reflux (GERD)

Acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a common condition that occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus. This can cause uncomfortable symptoms, including heartburn, regurgitation, and difficulty swallowing. Left untreated, acid reflux can lead to more serious complications, such as esophageal cancer.

Colon Cancer Prevention

Colon cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States but is also one of the most preventable. Regular screenings and early detection can help identify and remove polyps before they become cancerous. Our team at Gut Love can provide you with the education and support you need to reduce your risk of colon cancer.

Colon Cancer Prevention

Constipation

Constipation is a condition in which bowel movements are infrequent or difficult to pass. It can be caused by a range of factors, including a low-fiber diet, dehydration, and certain medications. Chronic constipation can also lead to hemorrhoids and anal fissures. We can help find the cause and curate a treatment plan with a gut health assessment in NYC.

Constipation

Diverticulosis

Diverticulosis is a condition in which small pouches, called diverticula, form in the walls of the colon. While it is typically asymptomatic, diverticulosis can lead to more serious complications such as diverticulitis, a painful and potentially serious infection.

Diverticulosis

Fatty Liver

Fatty liver, or hepatic steatosis, occurs when fat accumulates in the liver. It is often caused by a poor diet, obesity, and certain medications. While it can be asymptomatic, fatty liver can lead to more serious conditions such as cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the anus or lower rectum that can cause discomfort and bleeding during bowel movements. They are typically caused by straining during bowel movements, pregnancy, and obesity.

Hiatal Hernia

A hiatal hernia occurs when a portion of the stomach protrudes into the chest cavity through the diaphragm. It can cause heartburn, chest pain, and difficulty swallowing. While many people with hiatal hernias are asymptomatic, larger hernias can lead to complications. Find out how we can help with a gut health assessment in NYC.

“If you have ever experienced GI issues, you know how frustrating it can be to get answers for what is wrong and how to address it. Eat this, don’t eat that, take this medicine – but no one ever tells you why, and helps you to understand the root cause of your issues.

“When I first came to Dr. Ivanina, she took the time to understand the full clinical picture of what brought me to her practice. She spent much time and effort sharing and, re-sharing over the years, education about my GI situation.”

“Over the years I have been a patient, she armed me with tremendous knowledge about digestive health in a way that has enabled me to develop a deep appreciation for integrative health care.

“Because of her, I know that the gut controls so much more than what we usually credit it with – gut health is not just about what you eat and drink. It’s about the cellular changes that occur in your body when you have suboptimal stress or sleep, and how that in turn shows up as a gut symptom. It’s about how the microplastic particles found in common goods (plastic straws) can end up in the gut, which then disrupts the natural state of the gut membrane, and can lead to gut issues. It’s a nuanced understanding of how – even if you are not Celiac – being gluten-free is something worth considering. It’s understanding that it’s not just important to ensure adequate fiber intake, but also to consider a balanced approach to it (soluble, vs insoluble) and to balance it throughout the day.

“Her explanation of how food additives (emulsifiers, stabilizers and food dyes) can impact gut health, by altering the microbiome, increasing gut permeability and changing the thickness of the mucus barrier, has led me to be much more diligent in reading labels to avoid these wherever I can. This is just a small part of what I have learned from her over the years. From this, I have been able to take actionable steps to improve the quality of my life.

“I look forward to my visits with her because I know that she will approach our time together with dedication, humor, and a drive to help. I am so grateful and feel so fortunate that I have been able to work with her.”
